Who was Dave Elman?<\/strong><\/h4>

Two names come to mind when talking about the best hypnotists of the 20th century: Milton Erickson and Dave Elman. They have the same status. Erickson’s inductions can<\/span>\u00a0take quite a long time, but Elman puts you into a deep trance in less than a minute! Dave Elman’s method is characterized by a high level of effectiveness and a quickly achievable state of hypnosis.<\/span><\/p>

Due to this method’s fast and efficient effectiveness, blockages can\u00a0<\/span>be dissolved<\/span>\u00a0more quickly. As soon as a person reaches the state of deep hypnosis, the causes of a problem or illness can be rapidly found and treated. The hypnotist’s spoken suggestions, which reverse the situation, are implemented by the hypnotized person as autosuggestions.\u00a0<\/span>This<\/span> also makes it possible to initiate changes to existing behavioral patterns.<\/span><\/p>

The man behind the genius
<\/strong><\/span>
Dave Elman was born as Dave Kopelman on May 6, 1900, in Park River, North Dakota, and died on December 5, 1967. He became interested in hypnosis when Dave was eight years old and his father\u00a0<\/span>had cancer. An acquaintance of the family treated his father with hypnosis for the pain caused by the tumor. That’s when Dave Elman realized what incredible possibilities lay dormant in hypnosis.<\/span><\/p>

Elman\u00a0would never forget for the rest of his life how his father\u00a0<\/span>was helped<\/span>\u00a0without the support of modern medicine.\u00a0 Only later in his life, however, would he return to hypnosis and turn the world of hypnosis upside down.<\/span><\/p>

Dave Elman was a talent in many respects:<\/b><\/h4>

\"DaveElman worked in show business as a comedian and\u00a0hypnotist in his younger years.\u00a0 However, he soon stopped showing hypnosis as he realized that the parents of the girls\u00a0<\/span>he<\/span>\u00a0wanted to have an affair with forbade them to do so because he had mastered the “dark powers” of hypnosis.<\/span><\/p>

\"DaveIt was through this friendship that he met his future wife, <\/span>Pauline<\/b>.<\/span><\/p>

In the\u00a0twenties, Dave\u00a0worked mainly in radio and had his own\u00a0talent show, which was very well received.\u00a0 In 1959, he was even asked by NBC to host the TV\u00a0version of the “Hobby Lobby” show – but by then he had already committed himself to hypnosis and turned it down.<\/p>

The step to hypnotherapy:<\/b><\/h4>

In 1948, after a\u00a0charity show had to\u00a0<\/span>be canceled<\/span>, Elman stepped in and held an impromptu show hypnosis. After the show, doctors in the audience asked him to teach them what they had just seen.\u00a0 All of them had learned various hypnosis methods but could never reproduce the efficiency and speed that Dave Elman could. <\/span>Elman lectured 20 doctors – after which 20 more doctors lined up to learn from him – and the rest is history.\u00a0

\"LarryLarry can boast of having completed his father, Dave Elman’s MEDICAL HYPNOSIS course three times. He was briefly active as a stage hypnotist in high school and college.\u00a0<\/span>He then concentrated on a technical career (MIT, Air Force, and the Defense Industry), where he eventually retired as Colonel<\/span>,\u00a0<\/span>USAF.<\/span>\u00a0Larry has answered questions about his father’s life, career, and medical HYPNOSIS course for many years.<\/span><\/p>

Now working as a lecturer and writer on various specialized topics, Larry was a presenter at the National Guild of Hypnotists Annual Convention in 2009, 2010 and 2011 where he taught the Dave Elman Methods.
